Glass Factory

07 January – 11 February, 2022
Platform Centre for Photographic and Digital Arts
Winnipeg, CA

Video & Installation: crepe curtains, carpet, chiffon curtain, interior paint, light strips, found and inherited glass objects.

Glass Factory investigates connections between pollution, environments we live in, and the circumstances which define my family history: my grandfather’s career in the glass industry, glass heirlooms he collected, and the rare ailment my aunt lived with before she died, which caused glass-like calcium build up in her body to push through her skin like shards of glass. Glass Factory investigated connections between coincidence and cause, attempting to make sense of personal narratives within a larger social and environmental context.

Dedicated to my aunty Jan who found magic in everything.

With support from Canada Council for the Arts, Manitoba Arts Council, and Winnipeg Arts Council with funding from the City of Winnipeg.
